La Nueva EPS atraviesa por una crisis financiera que podría afectar a sus millones de afiliados. En las últimas semanas, una serie de declaraciones y revelaciones sobre la situación económica de la entidad han dejado en vilo a los colombianos que dependen de sus servicios de salud.
El escándalo se desató cuando la senadora Paloma Valencia, a través de sus redes sociales, divulgó una supuesta tutela en la que se mencionaba una discrepancia grave entre los estados financieros que la EPS presentó a la Superintendencia Nacional de Salud (Supersalud) y la realidad financiera de la entidad.
Las pérdidas de la Nueva EPS: ¿realmente 4,4 billones?
Según la información revelada por la senadora Valencia, el expresidente de la Nueva EPS, Aldo Cadena, había informado en 2023 que la entidad había registrado pérdidas de $411 mil millones.
Sin embargo, los documentos expuestos por Valencia indican que la cifra real podría ser mucho mayor: $4,4 billones. Si estas cifras resultaran ser correctas, los afiliados serían los más perjudicados, pues la situación financiera de la EPS, en lugar de mejorar, podría seguir deteriorándose aún más.
La discrepancia en las cifras no se limita a las pérdidas reportadas en 2023. Según Valencia, otros balances financieros presentados en los últimos dos años también presentan inconsistencias y no coinciden con los datos entregados por la entidad a la Supersalud.
Estas diferencias han puesto en duda la transparencia y la capacidad de la Nueva EPS para seguir brindando servicios adecuados a sus afiliados.
La respuesta de la Nueva EPS: aclaraciones y nuevas revelaciones
En medio de este panorama, la Nueva EPS emitió un comunicado respondiendo a las acusaciones de Paloma Valencia. La entidad defendió su posición, aclarando algunos puntos clave y haciendo énfasis en las medidas que han tomado desde abril de 2024, cuando la Superintendencia Nacional de Salud intervino administrativamente a la EPS debido a su situación financiera crítica.
De acuerdo con el comunicado oficial de la EPS, la pérdida reportada de $5 billones corresponde principalmente a facturas sin procesar.
Este monto es significativamente más alto que las pérdidas previamente mencionadas, lo que refleja el nivel de desajuste en las finanzas de la entidad. Además, se señaló que los estados financieros de 2023 no fueron entregados de acuerdo con las formalidades legales requeridas, lo que generó la necesidad de una revisión exhaustiva.
El Agente Interventor encargado de la supervisión del proceso advirtió que los estados financieros presentados por la administración saliente no fueron auditados correctamente.
La firma auditora Deloitte & Touche, encargada de revisar las cuentas, no certificó los documentos, lo que añade un elemento de incertidumbre sobre la veracidad de los números entregados. Por lo tanto, los estados financieros de 2023 siguen siendo provisionales y están bajo evaluación por parte de una auditoría forense contratada para esclarecer la magnitud del problema.
