La petrolera estatal colombiana Ecopetrol aseguró este viernes que suministrará gas suficiente, con lo que el país podrá disponer de ese combustible en 2025 y 2026, porque se implementaron medidas para bajar su consumo y se flexibilizó la regulación.
“La flexibilización regulatoria le permitirá a Ecopetrol ofrecer las cantidades de gas natural para venta en firme, con lo cual anunciará en las próximas semanas el proceso de comercialización de 16 Gbtud (millones de pies cúbicos día) en el mes de diciembre de 2024 y 101 Gbtud promedio en 2026”, dijo Ecopetrol en un comunicado.
Lo anterior implica que no será necesario importar gas, como se había planteado hace meses, pues “Ecopetrol implementó medidas clave para reducir su propio consumo, por lo cual no será necesario que Colombia importe gas natural en 2025, más allá del que se requiere para las plantas térmicas, como se viene haciendo desde 2017”.
Gracias a este ahorro en la generación de electricidad y vapor que utiliza Ecopetrol en refinerías, procesos industriales y operación de campos, la demanda de gas natural de la empresa pasará de alrededor de 250 Gbtud a 217 Gbtud el próximo año.
