Colombia es uno de los cinco países con más casos reportados de reclutamiento en escuelas, según la Coalición Global para Proteger la Educación de Ataques (GCPEA, por sus siglas en inglés), por lo que niños y organizaciones lanzaron un llamado este viernes para generar espacios seguros en las instituciones educativas del país.
En el marco de la primera Conferencia Ministerial Mundial para poner fin a la violencia contra la infancia, Save the Children alertó que el 82 % de los niños aseguran vivir violencia en la escuela, sobre todo bullying y ciberbullying, o que la incidencia de la deserción escolar y el consumo de sustancias psicoactivas es “preocupante”.
A esto se suman las amenazas que enfrentan los menores en el marco del conflicto armado colombiano, principalmente relacionadas con reclutamiento, ataques a escuelas y riesgo por la detonación de artefactos explosivos en algunas zonas del país.
En cuanto a las soluciones que se debatieron, resaltaron la cualificación y acompañamiento a docentes, el fortalecimiento familiar, la integración de una gestión del riesgo en los colegios y la mejora en las infraestructuras de las escuelas.
Colombia y Suecia lideraron esta conferencia junto a Unicef y la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS), y contó con la participación de más de 100 países, líderes mundiales, ministros, viceministros y organismos internacionales, que se reunieron para “asegurar un futuro sin violencia para niños y adolescentes”.
Al encuentro también asistieron niños y niñas de la Red Nacional de Participación ‘Lideramos el Cambio’, provenientes de varias regiones del Pacífico colombiano y una delegación de 12 niños y niñas de todo el mundo.
“Los niños somos el futuro, pero es importante que nos tomen en cuenta desde ahora porque vivimos en entornos que no nos permiten estudiar de manera adecuada”, expresó Jhon, uno de los niños que asistieron al evento.
