El Coronel Ríos destacó que, para este 30 de diciembre, se espera un aumento significativo en el número de vehículos en circulación. Se estima que aproximadamente 1.272.000 vehículos se movilizarán por las principales carreteras del país durante el día, de los cuales ya han transitado cerca de 500,000 vehículos hasta el momento. Este incremento en el flujo vehicular responde al inicio de las festividades de fin de año, cuando muchas personas se trasladan a sus lugares de origen para pasar las celebraciones con sus familias.

Condiciones de las vías: alertas y cierres
Sin embargo, no todo es tranquilidad en las carreteras, ya que varios tramos de las vías han sido afectados por fenómenos climáticos y desastres naturales. El Coronel Ríos alertó sobre varios cierres y restricciones importantes que los viajeros deben tener en cuenta para evitar inconvenientes:
- Vía Guateque-El Secreto: Cierre total debido a un deslizamiento de tierra, lodo y árboles que obstruyen la vía.
- Vía Crucero Agua Azul: Cierre total por fallas estructurales en el puente Chorro Blanco.
- Vía Granada: Restricciones temporales por trabajos viales efectuados por el concesionario de la carretera.
- Vías en Santander: Cierres parciales en varios puntos clave, como San Andrés y Curumálaga.
- Risaralda: Paso restringido a un carril entre los sectores de Santa Cecilia y Asia.
- La Guajira: Cierre parcial entre el río Palomino y el río Hacha debido a la caída de árboles en la vía.
Frente a estas situaciones, la Policía Nacional mantiene una comunicación constante con el Instituto Nacional de Vías (INVIAS) para monitorear el estado de las carreteras y coordinar la atención de emergencias, garantizando que los viajeros sean informados de manera oportuna sobre los cierres y restricciones.

El Coronel Ríos hizo un llamado a los conductores para que adopten comportamientos responsables y respetuosos con las normas de tránsito, especialmente en un contexto de alta congestión vehicular y condiciones meteorológicas adversas. Entre las principales recomendaciones se incluyen:
- Respetar los límites de velocidad: Es fundamental ajustarse a las velocidades permitidas, particularmente en zonas de lluvia o neblina, donde la visibilidad y el agarre de los neumáticos pueden verse comprometidos.
